About the Yurt
The yurt is 24ft in diameter and is a modern design based on the traditional lattice framed structure used in Central Asia. The covering is PVC and has been chosen for it's durability and strength as well as the clean bright aspect it provides. The walls are a lattice work at the top of which rafters are placed onto a tension wire to hold the crown, giving a totally clear round space.
Four large windows can be uncovered to further brighten an already well lit space from the transparent crown.
The foor is constructed from sawn Larch planks and provides a sturdy, slip resistant and is rustic in appearance.
Capacity of the yurt depends on the arrangement of furniture but as a guide 40 people can be seated for a meal. As a party area with minimal furniture it could fit 60. For a meeting or conference it could hold 50 seated.
It is a substantial structure and requires professional siting and erecting, it will take about 3 hours to put up and two hours to dismantle. Due to the weight of components and the floor consideration must be taken as to accessibilty of the site by vehicle and trailor.
Hiring a yurt has a number of advantages over hiring a marquee or similar type of sheltered space, over and above its innovative and unusual appearance. Their self-supporting structure means that they require very little securing externally, and can be attached to buildings or other structures very easily. They are also more weatherproof and highly durable, ensuring that you are warm, dry and enjoying yourself whatever the weather.
Important to the yurt in the colder months or for overnight in the British summer is our large woodburning stove. This is able to keep the yurt cosy and warm even in the depths of winter. With heat baffles so it can be positioned against the outside wall and an external flue it also does not impose on the space available.
We are able to provide a large basket of logs and set up the burner so that all it requires is to be lit at the appropriate time.
